Puddleducks Nursery in Bedford opened in 2000. Set in the grounds of an old farm estate, the purpose-built nursery boasts a wonderful rural setting in an urban environment. Amazing facilities include a large multi-purpose garden with all-weather facilities, 3 bright and spacious rooms (plus a dreamy sleep room) and an on-sight kitchen for the freshest and healthiest food throughout the day.
There is an incredibly experienced and dedicated team led by Sarah who has over 35 years of experience in childcare and education. Having been working together for several years, the team has a real family feel that adds to the best environment for your child to grow in. Our fully-qualified staff are trained in first aid, food health and hygiene with regular refresher training.
For babies and toddlers under 24 months, our room is thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of our youngest children, offering a calm, homely and secure space to explore and develop. Our caring team builds strong bonds with each child and works closely with parents to maintain home routines and preferences. From day one, we tailor individual development plans and provide daily diary updates, keeping you informed about your baby’s wellbeing, progress and milestones.
Around the age of two, when ready, children progress to the Squirrels’ room through a carefully planned transition involving parents and staff. At this stage, children develop positive relationships, language skills and social confidence in a fun, nurturing environment. The room encourages independence through choice, with engaging activities, group play areas, and supervised access to the gardens. Key milestones include early number and pattern awareness, sharing, dressing up, and eating independently, with singing and story time firm favourites. Parents are kept fully informed and involved throughout their child’s development

Before starting school, we focus on building confidence and key skills to ensure children are ready for the next step. The bright, lively room is filled with children’s work and activity zones that encourage independent learning through play. The Owls also look after the nursery’s fruit and vegetable garden, planting seeds, nurturing growth and enjoying the results. With a variety of toys and tools to support emotional and physical development, Puddleducks offers more than day care — we provide a full pre-school curriculum.
At Puddleducks we are committed to offering great quality childcare at affordable and competitive prices. We have a clear and transparent pricing structure, and should you require any further information, please feel free to contact the nursery manager who will be happy to discuss your requirements further.
